Yes, you read that correctly, water bottle workout! When COVID was at its highest, many people needed a new way to workout. They began to look for alternative to dumbbells and weights. The solution? Water bottles! And of course, we recommend Fontis Water bottles! According to MensHealth.com, you can achieve a great workout at home with two water bottles. Below is one of their suggestions for an at home water bottle workout. Water Bottle Boxing“A variation on classic boxing punch rotation training, for this exercise you’ll grip one makeshift weight in each hand, palm facing down. Take an athletic stance with feet just outside hips-width. Squeeze your glutes, squats, and core to create tension throughout your body. Position your hands in front of your chest at shoulder height in guard position. Then keeping feet planted, rotate your torso and punch with one arm out at shoulder-height. Bring it back to the guard position before rotating in the other direction and punching with the opposite arm. Ramp up the speed, and use your obliques to create power. Don’t swivel your hips to rotate. Crank out 20 total reps. Without dropping your arms at your sides, you’ll move into another 20 reps. But this time, you’ll punch to eye-height. Repeat 20 reps at each position twice before dropping your arms. Rest 30 seconds, and complete 9 more sets. Keep the intensity for each round, or you won’t get as much out of this workout. Remember, especially when you’re training with makeshift implements, making progress is all about effort.” Out of water bottles? Then just give us a call at 678-494-1981 and set up your water delivery service from Fontis Water. And by the way, keep of the great work! However, Georgia State Parks are a fan of this season too! So much so, they have created a website where you can learn more about the best places to Leaf Watch in Georgia! Top 10 Parks for Great Leaf Watching (Source Georgia State Parks) Amicalola Falls State Park & Lodge — DawsonvilleJust an hour north of Atlanta you’ll find the Southeast’s tallest cascading waterfall. For a tougher challenge, start from the bottom of the falls and hike up the steep staircase. Black Rock Mountain State Park — ClaytonWith an altitude of 3,640 feet, Black Rock Mountain is Georgia’s highest state park. (Brasstown Bald is the state’s highest peak.) Roadside overlooks and the summit Visitor Center offer sweeping views of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The 2.2-mile Tennessee Rock Trail is a good choice for a short, moderate hike. For an all-day challenge, take the 7.2-mile James E. Edmonds Backcountry Trail. Stay atop the mountain in cozy cabins or wooded campsites. Cloudland Canyon State Park — Near ChattanoogaOne of Georgia’s most beautiful parks offers easy-to-reach rim overlooks and challenging trails. Listed as a favorite hike, it takes you down a staircase to the bottom of the canyon, where you’ll find two waterfalls. (Remember, you have to hike back up, but it’s worth it.) The 5-mile West Rim Loop is moderately difficult and offers great views of the canyon. Mountain bikers can test their skills at the Five Points Recreation Area. Yurt guests stay overnight right by a hiking trail. F.D. Roosevelt State Park — Pine MountainMany people are surprised to find hardwood forests and rolling mountains south of Atlanta. Leaf Watching in Georgia published first on https://osmowaterfilters.tumblr.com/ via Tumblr Leaf Watching in Georgia Why kids need water has a number of answers. Many of us are aware of the obvious, but why do they really need water? We found some great reasons at Healthy-kids.com and wanted to share those with you. The Basics“Our bodies are made of about 70 percent water. It’s what makes up the majority of our blood, digestive juices and sweat. Water is also found in our organs and muscle cells.” “Water is used to metabolise fuel, regulate body temperature and digest food. It enables our bodies to carry out all of its functions in the day, it continually moves about and is lost in urine, sweat, tears, blood and the air we breathe. Children, in particular, need to make sure they re-hydrate, as water is the primary way they regulate their body temperature.” “Water contains no energy, and in most countries tap water has been fortified with fluoride to help protect against tooth decay.” How much water do children need? The amount of water a child needs depends on the amount of activity they do. Other factors include their diet and health. It’s always important to remind children to drink, but as a general guide, children up to 8 years of age should have a minimum of 4-5 cups of water a day. Kids above 8 years old require at least 6-8 cups of water a day. How do I get my child to drink water?Research shows that adding flavor to water may increase the amount of water they will drink voluntarily. Remember, it’s important however that they not drink too much water. Try these tips to help boost water intake in children: Add a slice of lemon or lime to give water a different taste (only sometimes as this is acidic and can soften teeth enamel) Ensure your child always has a water bottle handy Use herbs including mint or spices such as ginger to flavor the water Freeze fresh fruits and use them as ice cubes in glasses of water So now you know why kids need water, but where should you get the best water? We have the answer for that question … Fontis Water, of course! Call us today at 678-494-1981 to set up your home or office water delivery. The festival will take place this weekend, October 9 and 10 on the Marietta Square. And Fontis Water will once again be the official water of the event. Enjoy your afternoon sampling craft beers, live music from local artists, watching professional Chalk Artists chalk the streets and eating great food at the beautiful downtown square of Marietta. A great day out for all the family, the Chalk Fest is free to attend. All proceeds go to the Marietta Cobb Museum of Art. Who is the Marietta Cobb Museum of Art?Marietta Cobb Museum of Art (MCMA) is a non-profit organization dedicated to “building community through art”. Chalktoberfest began as a fund raiser for the museum in 2013. In eight years it has grown to attracting over 100,000 people to Marietta Square. Chalktoberfest has won Best Festival in Cobb County by Cobb Life Magazine in 2016 and 2017 and received the Mayor’s Art Award for the City of Marietta. Additionally, Chalktoberfest received the Spot On Award for the Best Event in Cobb County through Cobb Travel and Tourism. This is truly a unique festival that offers something for everyone. The festival includes chalk artist, food trucks, crafts for children, amateur chalk contests, antique cars, arts and crafts vendors. There is also a craft beer and wine festival. Children will love spending time in the play area. And did we mention live concerts on Marietta Square? This family friendly event is free of charge to the public. However, there is a fee to participate in the Craft Beer Festival which will feature over 100 craft beers and 25 wines. In addition to Chalktoberfest, MCMA offers much to the community for both artists and art lovers. Art Exhibitions, Opening nights galas, Martinis and Music gatherings, Art Classes, Workshops, Mobile Art Experience, Art Talk lectures, Open Draw, and other unique events make up the offerings to join us with the community. The market, which takes place every Saturday from 9 AM to Noon, offers not only great veggies and treats, but also a place to catch up with local friends. The market has an average of 54 vendors and hundreds of customers each week. Visitors have lots of variety to choose from including heirloom tomatoes, fruits and vegetables. Looking for potatoes, onions, tomatoes, squash, or beans? You can find those yummy items too! One of our favorite things to purchase are the beautiful fresh flowers! The growers outdo themselves each weekend. Local honey, herbal soaps, whole grain breads, jelly, jam and preserves are also popular items at the market. Like Fontis Water, the Marietta Square Farmers Market is a part of the Georgia Grown organization. The Market takes great pride in its vendors. As a matter of fact, the objective of the Marietta Market is to support the development of the local agricultural economy which will in turn foster stewardship of the land and goodwill in the community. It provides a great place for local growers to sell their goods and become involved in their community. And the community loves the vendors! So tomorrow morning, when you ask yourself what you should do? We say, grab a bottle of Fontis Water, and head on over to Marietta. You will not regret your morning decision! The post Marietta Square Farmers Market appeared first on Fontis Water. Marietta Square Farmers Market published first on https://osmowaterfilters.tumblr.com/ via Tumblr Marietta Square Farmers Market Recently we came upon an article that gives science based reasons why you should drink enough water. We found it quite interesting and wanted to share with you, our readers and customers, today. The human body is comprised of approximately 60% water. And, you have probably heard you should drink eight 8-ounce (237-mL) glasses of water per day (the 8×8 rule). Although there’s little science behind this specific rule, staying hydrated is important. Here are 7 evidence-based health benefits of drinking plenty of water. These science based benefits come from healthline.com. 1. Helps maximize physical performanceIf you don’t stay hydrated, your physical performance can suffer. This is particularly important during intense exercise or high heat. Dehydration can have a noticeable effect if you lose as little as 2% of your body’s water content. However, it isn’t uncommon for athletes to drop as much as 6–10% of their water weight via sweat. This can lead to altered body temperature control, less motivation, and fatigue. It can also make exercise feel much more difficult, both physically and mentally. Optimal hydration has been shown to prevent this from happening, and it may even reduce the oxidative stress that occurs during high intensity exercise. This isn’t surprising when you consider that muscle is about 80% water. If you exercise intensely and tend to sweat, staying hydrated can help you perform at your absolute best. 2. Significantly affects energy levels and brain functionYour brain is strongly influenced by your hydration status. Studies show that even mild dehydration, such as the loss of 1–3% of body weight, can impair many aspects of brain function. In a study in young women, researchers found that fluid loss of 1.4% after exercise impaired both mood and concentration. It also increased the frequency of headaches. Many members of this same research team conducted a similar study in young men. They found that fluid loss of 1.6% was detrimental to working memory and increased feelings of anxiety and fatigue. A fluid loss of 1–3% equals about 1.5–4.5 pounds (0.5–2 kg) of body weight loss for a person weighing 150 pounds (68 kg). This can easily occur through normal daily activities, let alone during exercise or high heat. Many other studies, with subjects ranging from children to older adults, have shown that mild dehydration can impair mood, memory, and brain performance. 3. May help prevent and treat headachesDehydration can trigger headaches and migraine in some individuals. Research has shown that a headache is one of the most common symptoms of dehydration. For example, a study in 393 people found that 40% of the participants experienced a headache as a result of dehydration. What’s more, some studies have shown that drinking water can help relieve headaches in those who experience frequent headaches. A study in 102 men found that drinking an additional 50.7 ounces (1.5 liters) of water per day resulted in significant improvements on the Migraine-Specific Quality of Life scale, a scoring system for migraine symptoms. Plus, 47% of the men who drank more water reported headache improvement, while only 25% of the men in the control group reported this effect. However, not all studies agree, and researchers have concluded that because of the lack of high quality studies, more research is needed to confirm how increasing hydration may help improve headache symptoms and decrease headache frequency. 4. Can aid weight lossDrinking plenty of water can help you lose weight. This is because water can increase satiety and boost your metabolic rate. Some evidence suggests that increasing water intake can promote weight loss by slightly increasing your metabolism, which can increase the number of calories you burn on a daily basis. A 2013 study in 50 young women with overweight demonstrated that drinking an additional 16.9 ounces (500 mL) of water 3 times per day before meals for 8 weeks led to significant reductions in body weight and body fat compared with their pre-study measurements. The timing is important too. Drinking water half an hour before meals is the most effective. It can make you feel more full so that you eat fewer calories. In one study, dieters who drank 16.9 ounces (0.5 liters) of water before meals lost 44% more weight over a period of 12 weeks than dieters who didn’t drink water before meals.
